Short definitions of the words you’ll meet in GoFrame Editor and in these pages, in alphabetical order. Each links to the page that covers it in depth where one exists.
  • Agent: GoFrame Editor Agent, the AI chat inside every project that edits the timeline, generates media, adds captions and exports. See Meet GoFrame Editor Agent.
  • Agent layout: the chat-first project layout, with the chat in the centre and a dock on the right that shows the Preview and Media tabs once the agent produces results. New projects open here. See Editor layout.
  • Animate preset: a ready-made In or Out animation for a clip (Fade, Grow, Shrink, Slide, Spin, Twist, or Gain for audio). See Animate clips with presets and keyframes.
  • Ask mode: a chat mode in which the agent answers questions and explains without changing the timeline.
  • Blade: the timeline tool (B) that cuts a clip where you click. The Select tool (V) is the default. See Edit clips.
  • Captions: on-screen text built from the transcript and styled with presets in the Captions panel. See Captions.
  • Captions page: one screen’s worth of caption words. Pacing (words per page) and page breaks in the word timing lane decide where pages start.
  • Clip: one item on a track: video, audio, image, text, shape, caption or motion graphic.
  • Cloud Sync: uploading an imported file from your browser to the cloud, per asset or automatically. Until then the file is Local only. See Import media.
  • Credits: the currency for agent prompts, AI generation and transcription; 1 credit = $0.01. See Plans and credits.
  • Edit proposal: the card the agent shows before a large change, with a Timeline impact headline, each edit’s range, change, risk and reasoning, and Apply plan / Revise. See Review proposals and approve actions.
  • Editor layout: the full editing layout with left panels, Preview in the centre, chat on the right and the Timeline at the bottom. Toggle with ⌘..
  • In/Out zone: the range between an In point (I) and an Out point (O) on the timeline. It doubles as the export range; ⇧X clears it.
  • Inspector: the panel with the selected clip’s properties: position, size, opacity, audio, effects, animation. See Inspector: clip properties.
  • Invite code: a closed-beta code in the form GF-XXXX-XXXX. See Sign in and beta access.
  • Karaoke highlight: a caption style that colours each word as it is spoken. The Karaoke preset group is built on it.
  • Keyframe: a stored value for a property (opacity, position, rotation, scale or volume) at one point in time; the clip animates between keyframes.
  • Marker: a named, coloured point on the timeline (M) used for notes and navigation. See Timeline basics.
  • Media pool: everything imported, recorded or generated in a project. See Organize the Media pool.
  • Memory: facts the agent keeps across sessions, scoped to a workspace or a project. See Agent rules, memory and voice.
  • Motion graphic: an animated graphic the agent generates, such as a lower third, title, chart or logo reveal. See Motion graphics.
  • NLE export: Project for editing (NLE), a Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro or OpenTimelineIO timeline plus a caption .srt for finishing elsewhere. See Export for Final Cut, Premiere and Resolve.
  • Permission request: the card asking you to approve a skill or tool that costs credits, with Deny, Approve once and Always.
  • Plan mode: the Plan toggle in chat. The agent proposes a plan first and waits for Approve & run or Request changes.
  • Playhead: the vertical line marking the current time on the timeline; Preview shows that frame.
  • Preview: the player, in the right dock in Agent layout or the centre of Editor layout.
  • Reasoning mode: the Reasoning chat mode, in which the agent shows its thinking before acting.
  • Ripple: an edit that shifts everything after it so no gap is left: ripple delete (⇧⌫) or ripple trim ( + drag).
  • Scene: a frame on the Storyboard that groups related images, video and text nodes.
  • Skill: a packaged ability of the agent, such as /captions, /image-gen or /export-video, run with / or plain language. See Skills and workflows.
  • Skimmer: hold Alt and move over the timeline to preview at the cursor without moving the playhead.
  • Slash command: a chat command typed with /, such as /undo, /plan, /compact or /model. See Write prompts, references and commands.
  • Snapping: clips, the playhead and markers snap to each other while you drag. Toggle with N.
  • Snapshot: a version you save by hand with Save snapshot in Version history.
  • Storyboard: the board for generating images and video as nodes and assembling them onto the timeline. See Storyboard.
  • Text FX: text reveal animations, By word, By letter or Scramble, applied to a text clip. See Text and shapes.
  • Timeline changes: the row in the chat after an agent edit (for example +1 added) that expands to list what was added, removed, moved or trimmed, with Revert.
  • Toolbox & VFX: the panel holding Video Transitions to drag onto cuts. See Transitions.
  • Track: a horizontal lane on the timeline. Video tracks are named V1, V2, …; audio tracks A1, A2, ….
  • Transcript: the text of an asset’s speech with word timings and speakers, produced by Transcribe. Editing it edits the video. See Edit video by editing text.
  • Transition: an effect between two adjacent clips, such as Cross Dissolve or Dip to Black, at least 2 frames long.
  • Version: an entry in Version history, where every change is a commit (manual snapshots, editing sessions, AI checkpoints) you can restore without losing anything. See Version history and autosave.
  • Word timing lane: the caption lane on the timeline where you adjust per-word timing, page breaks and hidden words.
  • Workflow: a multi-step skill (names start with wf-, such as /wf-talking-head) that chains several skills into one job.
  • Workspace: the container for projects, memory, rules and team members, with roles Owner, Admin, Member and Viewer. See Settings.
